Anyone who has been to one of our events before knows that Stupid Underground clubbers are a friendly crazy bunch who love to paaaarty! On Saturday 24th July the new factory home will ooze a cutting edge warehouse vibe with tons of booming sound and lighting production installed. Cue the sillyness and stupidity!

Expect a mash-up of Dubstep, Dnb, Tech House and Techno beats at this one folks and please arrive early to ensure freeness!

Custard Factory nightclub move Saturday 19th June event to Saturday 24th July.

Factory Events (representing nightclub activity at the Custard Factory) would like to inform all of their customers that unfortunately the popular Stupid Underground event planned for Saturday 19th June has been voluntarily postponed to the new date of Saturday 24th July.

The reasons for this are due to the venue wanting to work side by side with the police to allow enough reasonable time to thoroughly review all safety measures and operations they have in place at the nightclub spaces within the Custard Factory complex.

This review comes after a serious incident which occurred at the Custard Factory nightclub during the ‘Urban Music Gathering’ music event on the evening of Saturday 12th June.

A head spokesman of the promotional team for the planned Saturday 19th June Stupid Underground event says

‘Obviously we are extremely disappointed that a show in which we were expecting 2000+ fun loving, party and music minded people has been cancelled due to one persons actions at a completely different type of event the week before. We do however totally respect the venues decision to assist the police in a bid to ensure this fantastic music venue remains how it has always been, a safe, relaxed environment in which music-minded people attend to socialise. All of our efforts are now focused on getting the message out there to our loyal clubbers that this show is now taking place on Saturday 24th July and not to turn up this Saturday.’

With two storming bank holidays behind us we’re into the silly season of BBQs (weather permitting) and Festivals. With Summer Prom on Friday 4th June, Urban Music Gathering on Saturday 12th & Stupid Underground on Saturday 19th we’ve got plenty of mud free festivals to keep you happy. Throw in nights from Breakthru, WTFunk, Sub:Misson, Ravers Edge, Bloc Beatz & Twisted plus a HUGE South Africa World Cup launch party on the 11th and June is shaping up very nicely thank you very much!

After 12 huge sell out events at the Custard Factory the most recent being Saturday 30th January, Stupid Underground are proud to announce their biggest free b4 11.30pm party to date!

On Saturday 19th June we take on the important role of hosting the official launch party of the entire Custard Factory complex!

‘We told you we’re not closing!’ and this party is a celebration of exciting things to come at the nations new and improved clubbing destination. Residents of the whole complex are also celebrating at this evening as this event signals the unveiling of a multi million pound office and retail quarter within the Custard Factory grounds.

Massive sound and lighting production, a giant ghettoblaster, the new Factory club (formely Space 2 Warehouse), 2 x railway arches, world class Djs playing Electro, Techno, Drum and Bass and Dubstep, and the unveiling of the P.O.D arena make this event set to go down in history.

2000+ people are coming and we cannot wait!

So what is really happening!?

The Factory Events Team who are responsible for programming exciting club events at the Custard Factory complex are moving to the other end of the street!

Large financial investment is being made in the redevelopment of this area.

Space 2 warehouse is to become the new Factory Club with its upgrade including a permanent sound and lighting system and new toilets.

One railway arch (Factory Arch) is going to become a spectacular arena on large events.

The second railway arch (Factory Terrace) is where clubbers chill out, sit down and talk to friends. Djs will perform here in the Summer months.

A new room called Factory P.O.D will showcase futuristic L.E.D lighting and visual djs, with music Djs performing from a booth high up in the wall!

This is the end of an era for regular Factory Events shows at the old Factory Club space.

It is however exciting times as this move heralds a new beginning for Custard Factory revellers.

The Factory Events team are now commited to securing bigger and bolder events in 2010. Focus is now on quality of promoter and quality of experience.

Saturday 19th June is the official unveiling of Zellig - the dazzling new addition to the Custard Factory, adding 101 new studios, offices and retail spaces to the quarter. The £10 million 100,000 sq ft restoration centres around three courtyards featuring spectacular flying glass bridges and a beautiful floating sculpture. Zellig also contains the Nomad Club, a lofty space with wi-fi, a pool table, coffee on tap and a meditation space. Nomad will offer the opportunity to work whilst maintaining traction with the outside world and host regular networking events and arts/media parties.

With the winter months well and truly behind us we head into one of our favourite months of the year.

With TWO bank holiday weekends to look forward to in May there are plenty of opportunities to let loose and party.

Starting this weekend we’ve got Hysteria bringing you jump up drum & bass, old skool jungle & dubstep on Friday night. Hard House Heavy weights B2T & Tidy come together for Bounce 2 Tidy celebrating 15 years of Tidy on Saturday. Then on Sunday none other than FAT BOY SLIM, CALVIN HARRIS, CHASE & STATUS, ANNIE MAC & many more roll up in Digbeth as the Electric Carnival comes to town. With a capacity of 9000 people this show promises to be a landmark event in the history of Birmingham clubbing. You know you don’t want to miss this.

With brands such as The Gallery, Valve Soundsystem, Flyin’ Squad, Bigger Than Barry & Starlight all appearing at The Custard Factory during May it promises to be another big month.

With March coming to a close we have one more weekend before the “End of an Era” weekend. Get your Factory Fix this week with TECHNO NOTICE presents EAT STATIC LIVE on Friday 26th March followed by Birmingham D&B specialists MUZIK HERTZ on Saturday 27th March with Hazard, Bryan Gee & loads more.

And then its the big Easter bank holiday weekend with Early Doors & Dubstep Warriorz kicking off the madness on Thursday 1st April with a Drum & Bass VS Dubstep skank-a-thon featuring Doctor P & Artificial Intelligence.

The rest of the weekend is courtesy of Eclec-tricity with Ricardo Villalobos, Simian Mobile Disco, High Contrast, Goldie, Laurent Garnier & many more appearing over the course of the three day spectacular.

As February draws to a close we bring you without doubt the single biggest UK drum & bass event on the calendar. The National Drum & Bass Awards is this weekend and ends February at The Custard Factory with an almighty bang.

Moving into March we have some of the biggest name’s in the business with HTID (Hardcore Til I Die) on March 6th and the Legendary Cream bring their Classics night here on March 13th.

2010. A new decade. A new beginning.

Club events at the Custard Factory complex are changing.

The Factory Events team, have decided to focus their energy on financing the redevelopment and complete refurbishment of some exciting new spaces within the Custard Factory, to include the 1500 capacity Space 2 warehouse, two large adjoining railway arches and a new, never used before ‘secret room’. These new spaces will herald a wave of bigger and bolder club events organised by some of the most successful promoters in the business.

The Factory club, which has been at the centre of raves at the Custard Factory complex for over 14yrs is being closed and re-branded, with a new business partner involved, and will mainly come in to play on whole site festival type events, as well as being used as a separate stand alone bar / club on weekly Fridays.

End of an era

With the Factory Events Team focus moving to high profile shows at Space 2, the railway arches and the new secret room, it is the end of an era for regular Factory Events shows at the Factory Club.
